What Kind Of Curt Trailer Hitch Do I Need?

There are five classes of Curt trailer hitches for towing trailers. Each class is designed for a specific trailer weight range. When selecting the appropriate hitch make sure the weight rating of the hitch is greater than the loaded weight of the trailer that will be towed. The capacity for weight carrying and hitch attachment will vary and will sometimes dictate the class of hitch that can be used. Always consult your owner's manual for vehicle rating.

• Class 1 Trailer Hitch: Includes Proper Removable Ball Mount, Pin and Clip. Rated At 1,000 to 2,500 Pounds With 1.25 inch Receiver Tube.
• Class 2 Trailer Hitch: Includes Proper Removable Ball Mount, Pin and Clip. Rated At 3,500 Pounds With 1.25 inch Receiver Tube.
• Class 3 Receiver: Ball Mount Not Included. Rated At 3,500 - 10,000 Pounds Standard Towing (weight carrying) With Capacity Of Up To 10,000 Pounds When Used With Weight Distributing Equipment.
• Class 4 Receiver: Ball Mount Not Included. Rated At 10,000 Pounds Standard Towing (weight carrying) With Capacity Of 12,000 Pounds When Used With Weight Distributing Equipment.
• Class 5 Receiver: Ball Mount Not Included. Rated At 12,000 Pounds Standard Towing (weight carrying) With Capacity Of 14,000 Pounds When Used With Weight Distributing Equipment.
